Collection of Companhia Colonial de Navegacao Maritime Ephemera

A collection of maritime ephemera from the Portuguese shipping line Companhia Colonial de Navegacao, dating approximately from 1953 to 1961. The lot includes materials primarily focused on the ocean liners Santa Maria, Infante Dom Henrique, and Vera Cruz. Notable items include two spiral-bound promotional booklets titled paquete Santa Maria and paquete Infante Dom Henrique, a large fold-out deck plan for the Santa Maria titled Santa Maria Plano de Acomodacoes, and multiple passenger lists labeled Lista de Passageiros. The group also contains Travel Tips brochures for America Services, an oval luggage label printed in green and cream for First Class cabins, and a matchbook fragment featuring the company house flag. A diverse assortment of black and white photographs is included, featuring shipboard scenes of passengers dining and lounging. One significant photograph is a 1961 Associated Press Wirephoto showing the Vera Cruz docked in Rio de Janeiro, with text describing the vessel as the sister ship to the hijacked Santa Maria. A large color postcard of the Santa Maria is present with File Copy handwritten in red ink on the front. These items feature various iterations of the C.C.N. logo and name. Dimensions: See Desc. Provenance: Museum of Miami Collection, known for its extensive archives, manuscripts, and visual materials documenting the region's history. Condition Request Condition Report Good.
