Coiffeuse - Mahogany, Wood

A very elegant and characteristic antique Victorian dressing table, in Great Britain specifically known as a 'Duchess' dressing table. This type of furniture was in the second half of the 19th century the ultimate status symbol for the bedroom and is made from warm mahogany. The dressing table features a large, centrally mounted cheval mirror in a gracefully carved frame. On either side of the mirror there are two elevated nests, each with three small drawers, ideal for jewelry and cosmetics. Directly beneath the mirror there is another practical, central drawer. Together with the large drawer in the serpentine tabletop, this piece offers an exceptionally large amount of storage. All drawers operate smoothly. The piece rests at the front on heavy, beautifully turned wooden legs that come together at the bottom in a wide, elegantly curved plinth. This gives the furniture its iconic and regal appearance. Condition: The furniture is in good, functional condition. The woodwork has developed a beautiful patina over the years and shows charming signs of age that suit the age and history of the object. See the photos for a full and detailed impression. Note: Collection only due to size. The buyer must pick up the dressing table themselves (or via a carrier) in Dirkshorn, municipality Schagen, Netherlands.
