Claude Weisbuch (1927-2014) - CLAUDE WEISBUCH – Horace de...

CLAUDE WEISBUCH (1927-2014) – HORACE DE PIERRE CORNEILLE – 1995 Bibliophile illustrated edition with 15 original drypoints – Signed and numbered copy Magnificent bibliophile edition of the famous tragedy Horace by Pierre Corneille, illustrated with 15 original drypoints by Claude Weisbuch, including two double-page compositions. Published in 1995 by Les Pharmaciens Bibliophiles, this exceptional work combines the dramatic power of classical theatre with Claude Weisbuch’s graphic universe, a master of movement and line. Through his engravings, the artist brings to life the characters of Corneille with all the fervor and intensity that characterizes his work. His compositions, at once nerve‑racking and elegant, admirably convey the dramatic tension and the inner conflicts of the protagonists. Book features Author: Pierre Corneille Artist: Claude Weisbuch Title: Horace Publisher: Les Pharmaciens Bibliophiles Year: 1995 Illustrations: 15 original drypoints by Claude Weisbuch, including 2 on double page. A remarkable encounter between literature and original engraving This edition stands as a fine example of the artist’s book of the 20th century, where text and image respond to one another in a true bibliophilic creation. The fifteen drypoints by Claude Weisbuch offer a particularly expressive approach to this tragedy devoted to honor, duty and human passions. A superb volume of bibliophilia, sought after for the quality of its original engravings, its limited edition of 180 copies, and Claude Weisbuch’s signature.
