Citizen officially announced the launch of the brand new Citizen Promaster New Wave Tracker, a light-powered Eco-Drive watch with a combined display (analog-digital) specifically designed for Yacht Racing. This launch is not an isolated event, but a celebration of a glorious tradition: it has been about 40 years since the Japanese make presented in 1985 the legendary Wind Jack, the first model conceived by expert sailors to dominate international race courses. Today, the Wave Tracker evolves that DNA by combining the historical robustness of the Promaster line with the most modern digital technologies. DISPLAY MIP high Definition and the new CALIBER U812 The actual visual and functional revolution of the new Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker lies in its combined dial. The Japanese brand has implemented a very high definition MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) display. Compared to traditional LCD screens, MIP technology guarantees exceptional readability under direct sunlight – a fundamental condition during navigation sessions – while drastically reducing energy consumption. The beating heart of this range is the new Caliber U812 movement developed in-house by Citizen. Thanks to this module, the watch introduces two main modes very useful on board: Race Mode (Gara) and Tide Graph Mode (Tide Graph). NAUTICAL FUNCTIONS Race Mode and tide chart The Citizen Promaster New Wave Tracker is not just a handsome watch to flaunt on the quay, but a true professional tool on the wrist. 1. - Race Mode (Yacht Race Timer) In regattas, pre-start positioning is everything. The Wave Tracker is equipped with an advanced regatta timer: once the countdown is started in the minutes before the start, the watch automatically switches to chronograph mode as soon as the time expires. This allows the skipper to monitor the exact duration of the race from the very first second after the start line to the finish line. Furthermore, the rotating bezel with calculator scale allows calculating angles, headings, and sail trim points (yacht speeds) based on wind direction. 2. Tide Graph mode, lunar phases and dawn/dusk Safe navigation requires knowledge of tides. The Wave Tracker calculates tide level at the selected position and shows hourly forecasts directly on the graphical display. It accurately indicates high and low tide times and current direction changes. The watch also supports data on lunar phases and dawn/dusk times for 203 cities around the world. ADVANCED MATERIALS Citizen continues its green philosophy. In addition to the famous Eco-Drive technology – which eliminates the need to replace the battery by charging from any light source (natural or artificial) – the flagship model features a revolutionary strap.
