Up for auction is an interesting Citizen Chronograph Automatic “Spider” ref. 67-9119, one of the distinctive Citizen automatic chronographs from the 1970s equipped with the famous 8110A movement of 23 jewels. The specimen offered is particularly interesting for its configuration: black dial, black subdials, orange chronograph hands, and an inner tachymeter bezel, distinctive elements of the 67-9119 reference. Documentation for the Citizen 8110 models identifies the 67-9119 reference with case 4-901045 and caliber 8110. From the serial number engraved on the case back, 90402589, production can be dated to April 1979: in vintage Citizen models the first digit identifies the last digit of the year and the next two the month. The presence of the 8110A movement allows precise dating of the decade. The watch is in perfect working order: the automatic movement is running and the chronograph and calendar functions are operative. The case shows normal signs of use and age, visible in the photographs. The stainless steel bracelet is aftermarket and not the original Citizen bracelet; it is nonetheless included with the watch. An interesting piece for collectors of Japanese chronographs from the 1970s and, in particular, of the Citizen 8110 family.
