CIRCLE OF JAMES LODER OF BATH (BRITISH 1784-1854) PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN ON A BAY HUNTER IN A LANDSCAPE WITH A HUNT BEYOND Oil on canvas 62 x 75cm (24¼ x 29½in.) Provenance: Sale, Christie's, London, Fine Sporting Pictures, 3 May 1968, lot 5 (as Wolstenholme) Condition Report: The canvas has been lined. Stretcher marks visible. Craquelure with some areas of associated flaking and loss throughout, but most noticeably to the upper left corner and upper right quadrant in the trees. Rubbing and abrasions to the framing edges. Superficial surface scratching and surface dirt throughout. Some slight discolouration caused by a dirty varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals in-filling and over-painting, together with an uneven varnish layer throughout.
