Tutte le aste / Arte Contemporanea / Christopher Henry - Insolent Par Nature n°12

Made from a steel beam, carefully transformed into a singular piece of art. Each specimen is a unique work. All protected by a satin varnish, guaranteeing a durable finish. This creation fuses recycling and artistic expression, perfect for adding a touch of originality to your interior or completing an art collection. The Pillars: I chose to work on IPN beams, those metal girders that come from our urban landscape, raw elements that make up and support the buildings of our cities. Usually hidden behind walls, they still participate in the very structure of our environment. They bear, support, and enable constructions to stand upright. By using a real beam as a support, I bring into my work a piece of the city, a fragment of architecture and urban planning. An industrial element, marked by its history and its primary function, which I reframe to give it a new artistic dimension. This choice came naturally to host my portraits of women. Because, just as these beams are the invisible pillars of our buildings, we all have in our lives a woman who represents a pillar. A mother, a grandmother, a sister, a partner, a friend… a woman who supports, accompanies, protects, or simply helps us to stay upright. Through this encounter between raw steel, the urban universe, and the feminine portrait, I create a parallel between the structure that supports our cities and these women who support our lives. Each IPN becomes much more than a mere support. It becomes a fragment of urban planning transformed into a work of art, bearing the face and the symbolic story of a woman. Because our cities have their pillars. And in our lives too, there are women who help us stay upright. Coming from graffiti culture, discovered in his teens, he has for over twenty years developed a personal, instinctive, and recognizable universe where painting, photography, screen printing, collage, and various techniques from urban art meet. His work draws energy from the street, but quickly frees itself from traditional graffiti codes to explore a broader and more personal artistic practice. Christopher Henry develops a visual language where feminine portraits, colors, typography, symbols, references to popular culture, and spontaneous graphic interventions mingle. His work moves between technical mastery and the freedom of gesture, between contemporary aesthetics and urban influences. Over the years, his work has been shown in France and internationally, notably in Paris, Hong Kong, Bratislava, Eindhoven, and Miami. A multi-disciplinary artist, he works on canvases as well as on unexpected supports: monumental walls, objects, skateboards, car bodies, or artistic installations. The female figure occupies a central place in his work. Through his portraits and various series, Christopher Henry seeks to reveal the strength, sensuality, fragility, and singularity of his subjects. His universe, sometimes provocative, always unapologetic, questions the gaze on the body, femininity, and the codes of contemporary society. Creator of the DollArt Erotic concept, he continues today a distinctive artistic research, mixing erotism, pop culture, street art, and screen printing, while developing numerous participatory and social projects. For more than seventeen years, he has also used art as a tool of transmission, expression, and meeting through workshops and mural projects carried out with diverse audiences. Through a free and plural work, Christopher Henry affirms a borderless artistic vision, where every support becomes a field of expression and where urban art dialogues with more intimate, popular, and contemporary worlds.
