Champagne bucket from the famous Christofle silverware house, clearly marked on each side: Christofle Silverware with a circular crest at the center, Christalba surrounding a bee, in silvered metal, with side handles, probably the Biarritz model with its circular sides, in Art Deco inspiration. This model may be associated with Luc Lanel's design. It highlights the Morlant champagne house in Reims. This champagne bucket was probably ordered to equip a first-rate grand restaurant or brasserie. Probable period: 1950s/1960s. Good overall condition, some very light scratches or traces and minimal minor dents around the rim, no oxidation, interior traces; a cleaning would be beneficial. Dimensions: height 20.8 cm, opening diameter 18.5 cm, width with handles 24 cm. Weight approximately 1.7 kg. The Christofle brand has been a silverware house for tabletop art since 1830, founded in Paris by Charles Christofle. The company is known for introducing electro-gilding and electro-silvering in France in 1942; patents that the company acquired from the French Henri de Ruolz and the English Elkington. The Christofle house supplied King Louis Philippe, who in 1846 ordered a table service for the Château d’Eu. Its great notoriety dates to 1851 when Emperor Napoleon III ordered a service of 4,000 pieces, including among others soup tureens. International Colissimo shipping rate 2026
