Their works, which often wrapped monumental structures and landscapes, questioned traditional concepts of art and played with the perception of space and object. Christo and Jeanne-Claude's works stand in the tradition of Marcel Duchamp's Readymade concept, in which everyday objects are placed in a new artistic context. Duchamp's "Fountain" (1917) questioned the nature of art, in a similar way that Christo's "Wrapped Reichstag" (1995) or the "Wrapped Pont Neuf" (1985) reinterpreted the function and meaning of architecture.
