Refined decorative Chinese triptych in translucent vitreous enamel, consisting of a pair of coordinated vases and a decorative plate, all accompanied by their respective wooden supports visible in the photographs. The objects are made using the prestigious and complex plique-à-jour technique, a particular form of enameling related to cloisonné, but characterized by the absence of a continuous, opaque metal background. The structure is formed by a very thin framework of golden metal wires, shaped to create numerous small cells. These are filled with ultra-fine vitreous enamel and subjected to successive firing, until light and translucent walls are obtained. The result resembles a miniature precious stained glass: light passes through the enamel, highlighting the metal lattice and the delicate color variations. Particularly elaborate is the scale or "honeycomb" background, developed through hundreds of small regular cells. This dense weave completely envelops the surfaces, adapting with great precision even to the curves of the vases. The decoration features an elegant Oriental naturalistic repertoire, with blooming branches, peonies and small exotic birds. The pink, green, yellow and blue enamels stand out against the translucent white-ivory background, while the delicate gilded profiles define each element and give luminosity and depth to the composition. The two vases present a harmonious form, with an ovoid body, rounded shoulder, slender neck and flared mouth finished with a gilded edge. The plate repeats the same workmanship and depicts a rich composition of flowers and birds spread across the entire surface. The particular transparency, the fineness of the vitreous enamel walls, and the complexity of the weave make this triptych a decorative ensemble of notable elegance, suitable for a collection of Oriental enamels, Asian decorative arts and Chinese objects.
