The sculpture shows a seated woman washing her foot at a small stream, a common theme in the naturalistic Art Nouveau style. Figurine clocks like this were produced in large numbers in France by well-known manufacturers and artists such as L&F Moreau or Emile Coriolan Hippolyte Guillemin.
