Elegant French Art Deco hanging lamp, featuring a beautifully signed glass shade from the French glass manufacturer Cherrier & Besnus. The globe-shaped shade is made of white, frosted glass with a refined relief decoration of stylized, organic motifs. The glass has a soft, sculptural appearance and provides a atmospheric light diffusion. The shade is combined with a decorative metal ceiling ornament in brass, richly adorned with fan-shaped details and graceful reliefs. The ornament forms a beautiful contrast with the understated white glass and emphasizes the characteristic vocabulary of the Art Deco period. A particularly decorative object in which French ornamental glass and refined metalwork come together. Cherrier & Besnus was a French company in the field of decorative lighting, located at rue Amelot in Paris. Eugène Cherrier and Charles Besnus took over the lighting business from Roger Massin in 1924 and developed fixtures that aligned with the modern design of the Art Deco period. The company combined decorative metalwork with glass shades and offered both classical designs as well as new geometric and stylized models. The lamp is carefully packaged and insured for shipment.
