Charps - Un canon allumé

"A blazing cannon" Original painting by Charps Oil painting on a linen canvas mounted on a stretcher. 46 x 55 cm Gallery value: €1000 The canvas is varnished and sold with a certificate of authenticity Carefully packaged with insured shipping. (perhaps please note any remarks on the delivery note in case of damaged package) This canvas presents an amorous declaration disguised as a surreal fable, where two elongated figures seem to reach toward each other through a language made of gestures, strange objects and vibrant colors. The figure on the left, wearing an improbable hat that resembles a dream machine, tilts its face as if pushed by an inner breath. The figure on the right, softer, more contemplative, holds between her fingers a small glow — a minuscule yet intense spark, which becomes the symbolic heart of the scene. This gesture, delicate and almost secret, serves as a confession: a light offered, a feeling revealed. The background, woven with green and yellow motifs, creates an intimate setting, like a drawn curtain isolating this fragile moment. Everything seems suspended: the gazes, the stretched bodies, the fantastical accessories. One gets the impression of witnessing a silent conversation, where words do not exist but everything speaks — the colors, the shapes, the tiny spark that flows between them. It is a declaration of love that does not name itself, but is read in the tenderness of the poses, in the poetry of the objects, in this tiny light that becomes immense. Charps is an artist collected in more than twenty countries and a few works in public collections.
