Chair (2) - Beech - Louis XV caning

Pair of cane chairs in Louis XV style – Sculpted beech & rattan – France – mid 20th century Number: 2 chairs Style: Louis XV / Rocaille Estimated period: around 1940–1960 Probable origin: France Wood: solid carved beech, stained and varnished Materials: wood, natural cane in rattan Colors: honey brown / walnut, natural beige cane Height: 90 cm Length: 50 cm Width: 46 cm Condition: excellent overall Elegant pair of cane-seat chairs in Louis XV style, probably made in France in the mid-20th century, around 1940–1960. The chairs have a solid wood frame, likely stained and varnished beech, offering a warm honey-toned color. Their silhouette recalls the defining codes of Louis XV furniture: curved lines, ornate backrest, slightly curved legs and carved decoration inspired by vegetal and Rocaille motifs. The backrest as well as the seat are made with natural cane in rattan, bringing a lot of lightness and elegance to the piece. The caning work is particularly decorative and harmonizes with the curves of the wood. The front rail is embellished with a pretty central carved motif, while the front feet also feature decorative work that reinforces the refined character of this pair. Both chairs are in excellent overall condition, with their caning and structure well preserved. They form a particularly decorative pair, ideal around a table, in a bedroom, an entryway, or integrated into a classic or contemporary interior. Dimensions of each chair: H. 90 × L. 50 × w. 46 cm.
