ceramiche Aragona - Francesca Mingari - Vase - Ceramic...

Refined and scenographic ceramic art vase, finely handmade and decorated, bearing the artist Mingari's signature on the bottom. The work stands out for an imposing figurative representation with a stylized and expressionist taste, depicting a face with pronounced features, magnetic eyes, and an open mouth, framed by vibrant color blocks in red, yellow, white, and black details. The upper and rear parts of the vase retain the natural finish and tone of the ceramic/clay, creating an elegant textural contrast with the polychrome glaze of the front decoration. This vase comes from Santo Stefano di Camastra, in the province of Messina (Sicily), and is a contemporary work produced predominantly from the 1990s or 2000s onward. The artistic provenance The brand belongs to the Ceramiche Aragona workshop of Mingari Francesca, an artisanal outfit located right in Santo Stefano di Camastra. This town is one of the historic “Città della ceramica” in Italy, renowned worldwide for its centuries-old tradition of majolica art and hand-decorated ceramics. The Mingari-signed pieces presenting this specific figurative design sit within modern Sicilian production. Local decorating masters have reworked popular motifs and faces from tradition, blending them with a modernist, cubist-inspired painting style. The use of saturated colors, bold brushstrokes, and strong lines serves to give a strongly expressive and contemporary character to classic Sicilian terracotta.
