Centrepiece - Exclusive Italian Tray - 30cm - Nero Portoro Marble

Exclusive Large Italian Nero Portoro Marble Centerpiece Tray with Gilt Bronze Lion Paw Feet An exquisite and highly luxurious vintage/antique Italian Nero Portoro marble centerpiece tray (tazza) in near-mint condition. This stunning piece is a masterclass in classic European decorative arts, combining one of the world's most sought-after natural stones with ornate, heavy metal hardware. The Marble: Nero Portoro The basin is meticulously carved from a single piece of genuine Nero Portoro marble, historically quarried in the Liguria region of Italy. Renowned for its deep, intense midnight-black background, this specimen features an exceptionally vibrant and dramatic network of natural golden-yellow and milky-white calcite veins. The surface retains a high-gloss, mirror-like polish that brilliantly catches the light. The Details & Craftsmanship The heavy circular tray is supported by three beautiful, highly detailed gilt bronze (ormolu) or brass feet shaped into classic lion’s paw motifs with acanthus leaf accents. The construction on the reverse side is traditional and robust, utilizing vintage flush-mount structural flathead screws and metal brackets, highlighting its authentic mid-to-late 20th-century or earlier craftsmanship. Condition Report • Near Mint (Excellent condition): The marble shows no chips, deep scratches, cracks, or restorations. • The gilt metal feet are securely attached and retain their original warm patina with minimal age-related wear.
