Centre table - Walnut - Impero Jewelry

Elegant oval display coffee table or jewelry-type Bijouterie, Italian production of high cabinetmaking, Brianza area (Cantù), circa 1940-1950, in Neoclassical Empire / Louis XVI Revival style. Main features: • Oval hinged top with frosted glass, book-opening, with an internal divided compartment lined in the original red fabric/velveteen • Perimeter band decorated with a fake drawer, light-toned inlay and brass studs • Apron finely hand-painted with a draped festoon of stylized blue-green leaves and two central polychrome rosette medallions • Four tapering and curved sabre legs, joined by an oval crossmember with a central ring, typical of the Empire taste • Walnut / mahogany burl veneer with flame grain, shellac finish A collectible and furnishing piece, perfect as a living-room coffee table, jewelry case, luxury wallet-emptying piece, or display stand for collections. Technical details: • Era: 1935-1955, circa 1940 (20th century, mid-century) • Style: Neoclassical, Empire, Louis XVI Revival • Origin: Italy, Lombardy • Materials: wood, walnut/mahogany veneer, glass, brass, fabric, polychrome painting Good overall condition. Solid and stable structure, glass intact, interior in good state. With maximum transparency, as visible in photographic detail No. 8: On the upper wooden edge of the top, curved side, there is a small lightened/whitish halo about 1.5 cm in diameter (faded stain of the finish). Purely aesthetic and superficial varnish/lustre defect, probably due to old placement, a drop, or contact with humidity/heat. It is not a wood defect, not structural, and does not affect the ease of opening the glass. Otherwise: normal wear, micro-scratches and light hazing consistent with age. No invasive restorations. The defect is documented in a close-up photo and can be easily mitigated/improved by a restorer with shellac retouching, but we leave it intentionally in its original state. Provenance: Italian private collection.
