Antique Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) porcelain tray with a metal rim — "Alpine Flora" decor (edelweiss and gentian) — Germany/Austria, c. 1900. An elegant and highly decorative antique round tray (suitable for serving or display) in the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1900). The center features a porcelain insert with a detailed, colorful botanical illustration of alpine flora, depicting recognizable white edelweiss blossoms, blue gentian, and delicate pink mountain flowers. The porcelain insert is securely set within a substantial, openwork white metal rim (likely silver-plated or nickel-plated brass, or pewter) featuring a rich relief pattern. The rim is adorned with characteristic period ornamentation and fitted with two graceful openwork handles, making the piece both a magnificent decorative object and a functional serving tray. The underside bears an impressed manufacturer's or molder's mark featuring the vertically arranged letters "C A" and a separate letter "G" (likely indicating size or batch number); such markings are typical of German or Austrian ceramic manufactories of the Jugendstil era that supplied blanks to workshops specializing in high-quality metalwork.
