Carl Zeiss Jena, compur Compur Stereo Stereo camera

Rare Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:6.3 f=9cm stereo lenses in a Compur shutter (ca. 1920). Offered is a particularly interesting and historically valuable set of stereo lenses mounted on a double Compur stereo-shutter system, dating from the early 1920s. This set was used at the time on high-quality stereo cameras for glass plates (such as the Contessa-Nettel Steroco or ICA models). The lenses are two legendary Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:6.3 f=9cm objectives with consecutive/nearby serial numbers (Nos. 374241 and 374279). The housing features the classic "Stereo" engraving, the shutter serial number on the side (No. 689180) and the original German patent markings (D.R.P. No 258646 and D.P.G.M.). Specifications: • Brand of lenses: Carl Zeiss Jena • Type of lenses: Tessar 1:6.3 f=9cm • Serial numbers of lenses: 374241 & 374279 • Shutter type & No.: Compur Stereo shutter system (No. 689180) • Period: Circa 1920–1925 • Country of origin: Germany Condition of the object: • Mechanical: The shutter is in surprisingly good, smooth-running condition. All shutter speeds have been tested by ear and reveal a very clear and logical difference in speed. The Z, D and M settings (Zeit, Dauer, Moment) also work fully as intended. Although no electronic testing equipment was used to measure exact milliseconds, the mechanism functions as expected. The diaphragm blades (adjustable from f/6.3 to f/45) move smoothly. Sold "as is". • Cosmetic: In nice, original vintage condition with normal signs of aging and some lacquer loss/patina on the edges of the back plate, consistent with an age of over 100 years. All engravings, numbers and the structural lacquer on the front panel remain beautifully sharp with bright white inlay. • Optical: The lenses are neat and clear for their age. No major damage, though over the decades there has been some light, microscopic internal dust ingress, which is completely normal for optics from this period. View the photos carefully for an accurate personal impression of the physical condition. Will be shipped with very careful packing and insured."} } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } } }
