Caran d'Ache - Year of the Monkey LE/888 - Fountain pen

Caran d’Ache Year of the Monkey 2016 – Limited Edition 888 – Ref. 5092.052 For sale prestigious Caran d’Ache “Year of the Monkey”, a fountain pen belonging to the Chinese Calendar collection of the Swiss Maison, made in 2016 to celebrate the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese zodiac. Official Caran d’Ache reference: 5092.052. This is not a standard Caran d’Ache fountain pen, but a limited edition, individually numbered to only 888 pieces in the world. The choice of 888 pieces is not random: in Chinese culture the number 8 is considered particularly lucky and Caran d’Ache identifies 888 as a symbol of ultimate balance. The pen is made of brass coated with authentic black Chinese lacquer, polished, on which emerges the representation of the Monkey in yellow Chinese lacquer, accompanied by the calligraphic character for Monkey and the distinctive red Caran d’Ache Chinese seal. The fittings, clip and push button are gold-plated. The grip section is also gold-plated and bears additional inscriptions dedicated to the Monkey. Completing the fountain pen is a prestigious 18-carat yellow gold nib (18C – 750), size M, hand-polished and custom Caran d’Ache. The pen is perfectly functional. The piece is numbered on the cap, as documented in the listing photographs. Every detail of the pen has been photographed carefully, including the Caran d’Ache markings, Swiss Made, 18C-750 and the edition numbering. The pen shows normal and minor signs compatible with age and use, visible in the photographs, but remains overall in excellent aesthetic and functional condition. This piece also has a personal history: it comes from a family collection and belonged to my grandfather, who is no longer with us today. It has been kept over time precisely for its emotional value and for the uniqueness of the object. The decision to sell is thus tied to the wish to entrust it to someone who can truly recognize and appreciate what it represents, not only as a writing instrument but as a collectible item. The Year of the Monkey is still listed in the official Caran d’Ache catalog with a price indicated at €3,300. The sale includes exclusively the pen shown in the photographs. The original presentation box, warranty certificate, booklet or other accessories are not available. This circumstance is stated with full transparency and the requested price takes it into account. A particularly interesting piece for Caran d’Ache collectors, enthusiasts of high-end fountain pens, collectors of Chinese Zodiac editions and Swiss Made writing instruments.
