The design and finish of the candlesticks are a very beautiful piece of art. Pricket candlesticks are among the earliest forms of candle holders, featuring a spike (pricket) to hold the candle before sockets became standard. By the 18th century, these candlesticks evolved from purely functional items into decorative objects, often used in churches, wealthy homes, and ceremonial settings. Baroque and Rococo styles were dominant in the 1700s. Baroque: Bold, symmetrical, and dramatic with heavy ornamentation. Rococo: More playful and asymmetrical, with floral and shell motifs.
