CALLIGRAPHIC PANEL EMBROIDERED WITH METALLIC THREADS (HIZAM), SAUDI ARABIA, 20th CENTURY Set against a black silk background, this panel is richly embroidered with gilt and silver metallic threads. The large central cartouche features monumental calligraphy in the Thuluth script, framed by scroll-like plant motifs. The spandrels are adorned with floral and decorative motifs. INSCRIPTIONS: The Basmala, followed by the verse: “And whoever honors the rites of Allah—that is indeed a sign of piety in the hearts.” Qur’an, Surah Al-Hajj (22:32). DIMENSIONS: 85 × 235 cm
