For sale is this extraordinary and very finely crafted bronze figure from Thailand. It depicts presumably Phra Ram (Rama), the royal hero and prince from the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Indian Ramayana epic. Phra Ram is especially recognizable by his bow, regal bearing, and the tall, pointed crown. The greenish hue of the skin is also typical for his portrayal in traditional Thai art. The figure shows Phra Ram in a very dynamic stance: he stands on one leg, while the other leg is raised with a bend. In one hand he holds the long curved bow, the other hand is raised in an elegant traditional gesture. Particularly impressive is the very elaborate design of the clothing. Robe, belt, armlets, and headpiece are almost completely adorned with fine ornaments. The combination of dark or greenish patina and the warm bronze/copper tones highlights the numerous details especially beautifully. The base/foot is also made of bronze.
