Box - Silver plated brass - Filigree Jewelry Box

This exquisite Victorian-era 19th-century jewelry box is a superb example of the ornamental delicacy and decorative refinement that characterized the sumptuous arts of the period. Made in silvered brass, it stands out for the extraordinary richness of its filigree work, executed through a complex lattice of ultra-fine intertwined metal threads that create a sophisticated metal lace effect. Rectangular in shape with elegant proportions, its entire surface is covered with intricate scrollwork motifs, volutes, stylized leaves, and interwoven arabesques, forming a continuous decoration that reveals notable artisanal mastery. The hinged lid reproduces the same decorative virtuosity, organized into symmetrical compositions that converge around a small central knob, designed to ease opening and to provide visual balance to the whole. The sides feature panels richly adorned with finely pierced vegetative designs, while the perimeter moldings delicately frame each surface, reinforcing the sense of wealth and meticulousness. An elegant side handle with a curved profile completes the piece, evoking the small chests and dressing boxes intended to guard jewelry, personal mementos, or small valued objects. The patina acquired by the metal over time adds depth and authenticity, enhancing the filigree details and accentuating its historical character. Raised on small spherical feet that give it lightness in appearance, this box combines functionality and ornamentation in perfect harmony. Beyond its utility as a jewelry box or trinket casket, it is a decorative piece of great collectible appeal, representative of Victorian taste for exuberant ornamentation, high-quality craftsmanship, and the care given to small luxury objects for the home. Its presence brings elegance, romance, and a distinctly nineteenth-century flavor to any collection or interior inspired by classic lines. Tracked shipping and careful packing.
