Crafted in 800 silver, the hinged oval box is beautifully decorated in high relief with an elegant branch of blackberry leaves and berries, a characteristic naturalistic motif of the Art Nouveau movement. Small suspended silver boxes such as this served both decorative and practical purposes. They were commonly used to hold pills, small cosmetic items, tiny personal keepsakes, or occasionally scented materials, making them both fashionable accessories and useful personal objects.
