Bookends (2) - Tamed Birds of Paradise - Marble and Régule

Set of vintage French bookends with stylized birds of paradise – in Art Deco style – marble pedestals 1970 - 1980 A characterful pair of bookends with elegantly stylized birds of paradise. The raised wings, refined feather details and gracefully curved tails give the mirror-image sculptures a dynamic look. A beautiful combination of functional bookends and decorative objects for a bookshelf, desk or sideboard. The birds are presumably made from régule, as described in comparable specimens. The dark, bronze-colored finish with gold-toned nuances complements the soft green accents beneath the birds. Both sculptures stand on solid black marble pedestals with light veining. The design aligns with the Art Deco style. The exact maker has not been established. Dimensions: H 11 × L 11.2 × W 7.2 cm Weight: 1,340 grams The bookends show signs of wear to the finish and have not been polished, preserving the existing patina. The photos are part of the description and give a good sense of the details and condition. A small flea bite on the corners of the marble pedestals does not detract from the overall impression. Both vintage objects will be securely packaged for Smart Shipping, sent registered and insured with tracking.
