Bookends (2) - Ebony - Art Deco

A pair of French ebony Art Deco bookends depicting two Mangbetu women. These typical French Art Deco objects, heavily inspired by l'art nègre and the Africa fascination of that period, have sustained some damage over the past century, and both headpieces were once glued; there is damage to the ear ornaments and the headpiece. Nevertheless, it remains a beautiful, heavy set of dark ebony from the heyday of Art Deco, with a majestic presence.
