BOKOV (Nicolas). — Autumn Gold and Silver Point. Conversations with Victor Koulbak. Les Éditions Noir sur Blanc, n.d. An in-8 volume, paperback, with a color-illustrated cover featuring a portrait and a parrot. French edition of these conversations between the Russian writer Nicolas Bokov and the painter Victor Koulbak, translated from Russian and annotated by Luba Jurgenson. The book is illustrated with 14 drawings by Victor Koulbak, an artist of Belarusian origin known for the finesse of his drawings and his mastery of the silverpoint technique. These interviews bring together two figures from the Russian émigré community, who discuss their life journeys, artistic creation, literature, Russian history, and the political and cultural upheavals of the 20th century. A reflection on artistic freedom, the transmission of culture, and the place of art in the contemporary world. A good copy, with a few slight signs of handling.
