Black Chalama Opal Ring / polished / new- 2.82 g - (1)

Ring Black Chalama Opal / polished / new In 925 Sterling Silver set 13.0 mm x 8.1 mm Weight: 2.82 g New and unworn Ring size: U 59 UK R US 8.7 Fr 19 Inner diameter: 18.8 mm Black opals, like their differently colored counterparts, occur as globular to knobbly masses with no detectable crystal structure. Their beauty usually becomes apparent only after the cutting of this material. A characteristic of this form of opals is their opalescence, which manifests in intense rainbow flashes. Moreover, the base rock of the opal here is dark, grayish to black, which gave it this name. Black opals form, just like other opals, from silica-rich fluids that crystallize in sediments or volcanic rocks. Their characteristic shimmer is due to water inclusions within the interior of the mineral. Shipping as insured registered mail.
