Bill Zygmant – The Beatles’ Apple Boutique, 94 Baker Street – Original Signed Photograph The Beatles’ Apple Boutique – Baker Street, London An original colour photograph by British photographer Bill Zygmant, showing the extraordinary psychedelic exterior of The Beatles’ Apple Boutique at 94 Baker Street, London. The building is covered in the famous psychedelic mural created by the Dutch design collective The Fool, working with the Beatles’ Apple organisation. The photograph is particularly significant because the mural existed for only a very short period. The Apple Boutique opened in December 1967, but the mural was subsequently ordered to be removed and was painted over in May 1968. Bill Zygmant himself described photographing the building while the mural was being painted. He recalled recognising the work of The Fool and deliberately taking photographs before the mural was completed and subsequently whitewashed. The photograph is personally signed by Bill Zygmant in the lower right-hand corner. Provenance This photograph was personally given to me by Bill Zygmant himself. I lived with Bill for a period of time and he personally gave me a number of his photographs and cameras before I subsequently helped repatriate him to the UK.
