A desirable UK 5th pressing of Please Please Me by The Beatles on Parlophone (PMC 1202), featuring the classic yellow and black labels and housed in the correct Garrod & Lofthouse flipback sleeve. This 1964 copy features the distinctive "Recording First Published 1963" text on the labels, a hallmark of this pressing generation. The sleeve presents the large MONO indicator at the top right and carries an interesting detail: the left-aligned Angus McBean photo credit on the front cover. This positioning differs from earlier sleeves associated with the gold-label and earliest yellow and black pressings, which typically show the photo credit positioned further to the right, making this a useful identifying feature of this later sleeve variation. The copy is complete with its original period inner sleeve. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): A very clean and attractive example with excellent overall presentation. The laminated front retains good original shine, with only light creasing along the left edge—nothing serious. The spine remains fully readable with only minimal corner wear. The rear flipbacks are clean and well preserved, showing some age-related browning and yellowing to the rear panel, as is commonly encountered with original sleeves of this era, but nothing excessive. A strong VG+ example. Inner Sleeve: Original period inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG to VG+): Side 1 retains a very nice gloss and shows some light playwear, particularly around the run-out area. No feelable marks and no major visible blemishes. Visually around VG+. The label remains attractive with only light wear around the spindle hole. Side 2 shows somewhat more visible wispy and superficial marks than Side 1, though none are feelable. Visually this side grades around VG. Despite the visual playwear, the record plays well overall with good sound quality.
