White bobbysocks (ankle socks) and typical saddleshoes (two-tone saddle shoes). Elvis, The Army Years The code 21912 refers to the official Mattel product code of the Elvis Presley "The Army Years" Classic Edition Doll. This special collector doll (often categorized under the Hollywood Barbie & Friends line) was released in 1999. Doll features (#21912) Design: The 12-inch (ca. 30 cm) doll wears a detailed replica of the U.S. Army winter uniform, complete with insignia and a field pack. Hair: Instead of his famous pompadour, this Elvis doll has a military 'crew cut' (short, neat haircut). Accessories: The set includes unique extras, such as a miniature list with a photo of Priscilla Beaulieu and a letter she sent to Elvis when he was stationed in Germany. The doll commemorates the period when Elvis Presley, at the height of his fame, was drafted for military service (March 24, 1958). He refused special privileges and served two years as a regular soldier, mainly in Bad Nauheim, Germany, where he ultimately rose to the rank of sergeant.
