Bar - Kingwood, lemongrass - Bar cabinet

Art Deco Bar Cabinet, palisander (rosewood) and lemonglass wood, 1940s – France Style: Art Deco Material: Palisander and limoncillo wood Period: 1940s Country of origin: France Good condition for its age and use Dimensions: 130 x 100 x 45 cm. Extraordinary Art Deco bar cabinet made in France, circa 1940. It showcases exquisite craftsmanship in both design and materials used. A simple design influenced by the polygonal shapes of Art Deco, characterized by its geometric elegance. Its compact dimensions are suited for urban homes or sophisticated spaces, aligning with modern living. When closed, this cabinet has a broad rectangular shape, with the main body separated from the leg structure. Practically all of it is made from palisander, giving a deep, glossy, and elegant finish. The palisander harmoniously contrasts with the geometric design on the front, occupying both doors, with the particular tone of limoncillo wood. This creates a dynamic, symmetrical focal point, characteristic of Art Deco’s visual language. The doors open with a hidden magnetic mechanism that avoids handles, leaving the surface smooth and glossy. It is also perfectly equipped on the inside, with a vertical divider and two horizontal shelves, a total of 6 compartments to arrange items such as bottles and glasses, though it is a versatile piece that can also serve as a wardrobe or sideboard. In the 1930s and 1940s, French design was transitioning between Art Deco and the more functional styles associated with the Modern Movement. Furniture like this reflects the era’s spirit, where home entertainment and compact furniture for small apartments were a priority. About Art Deco The term Art Deco was defined in the 1960s to refer to the art created during the interwar period. It was a style developed across all design disciplines and reached its peak at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. Art Deco is notable for the use of straight lines and geometric volumes; it arises from the fusion of different trends. Some of the major influences on Art Deco include avant-garde art, mechanization, and archaeological discoveries from Ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. Art Deco differs from other artistic periods in that it is a purely decorative style where artists focus on creating attractive, balanced pieces that reflect the society of the time.
