BACOU (Roseline). Drawings from the Louvre. Italian School. Paris, Flammarion, [20th century]. Substantial in-4 volume, publisher’s cardboard binding with an illustrated dust jacket. A major publication devoted to the Italian drawings held in the Louvre’s Department of Drawings, compiled by Roseline Bacou, curator of the Department of Drawings, in collaboration with Françoise Viatte. Extensively illustrated, in black-and-white and color, featuring reproductions of works from the major Italian schools: religious drawings, figure studies, compositions, and portraits, ranging from the 16th century to later periods. The volume notably features works by Domenico Beccafumi and numerous masters of the Italian Renaissance and Mannerism. An important reference work for the study of Italian drawing and the Louvre’s graphic arts collections. Dust jacket shows some scuffing, small tears, and wear on the corners and edges; interior in good condition.
