Azucena B&B Italia - Luigi Caccia Dominioni - Armchair...

Azucena "NEW NEVER USED" armchair model POLE POSITION in black bovine full-grain leather Designer Luigi Caccia Dominioni Pole Position is a homage to sports car seats, whose interiors are often as beautiful and comfortable as the best bourgeois living room. This upholstered bergère represents a unique piece in Luigi Caccia Dominioni's production, and the reference to cars is a constant that runs through every detail of this model: it starts with the backrest curves, moves through the stitching and the capitonné work, and even reaches the wheels. The latter are almost an indulgent self-reference that seems to refer to his ABCD chair, also equipped with two small casters at the base of the front feet. Azucena was founded in 1947 by Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua who founded the company. The Italian brand Azucena has always distinguished itself for collections that combine formal elegance, understated luxury, pure and crisp aesthetics, and very high craftsmanship. Azucena (named after the gypsy heroine of the opera Il Trovatore) was created to gather furniture projects intended for furnishing the buildings they designed. A series of pieces—iconic in their own right—return to life, characterized by the union of different materials, always refined, and by the revival of traditional stylistic forms. In 2018, it became part of B&B Italia, which sought to preserve and relaunch it, in an active vision of Italian heritage. The historic brand returns to the market with a series of “modern classics” designed by architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni starting from the late 1940s—chairs, sofas, tables, and lamps that have written the history of Made in Italy design and that return today as a testimony of class and quality.
