Automata - 1970-1980 - Musical Clown Puppets

Pair of vintage animated musical clowns/puppets produced roughly in the 1970s–1980s. Made of porcelain and metal/mechanical components with original fabric clothing in bright colors. The two clowns feature different, detail-rich costumes: one wears a blue jacket with plaid inserts, beige trousers, and a coordinating hat; the other a turquoise jacket, red trousers decorated with white stars, and a green patterned hat. Both automata are functional in both their movement mechanism and the musical part. When activated, the upper body moves in time with the music, with the typical effect of decorative automata of the era. In overall excellent condition, with minor signs of wear and age, including small marks, stains, and superficial signs visible in the photos, consistent with the age of the items. These marks do not affect operation. The pair retains a pleasant retro charm and is suitable for collectors of musical automata, dolls, and vintage clowns. Measurements: 32 cm tall, 10 cm wide. Weight 500 grams each.
