Asmat - Papua New Guinea

Beautiful prow ornament originating from an Asmat prauw (dugout canoe). Collected in the 1960s or 1970s by Jac Hoogerbrugge and came directly from his collection. Carved by Kwus from the village of Tareo. See the collection note and drawing by Hoogerbrugge.
