Descriptio Wood, metal, and leather. Dimensions: 82 x 43 x 60 cm. A prestigious seat belonging to the tradition of the Ashanti people of Ghana, crafted from wood and embellished with metalwork and leather elements. The piece is an asipim chair, associated with positions of authority and representation within courtly and ceremonial settings, and is distinguished by its solid structure and understated elegance. Its formal presence, combined with the furniture’s functional and symbolic character, makes it an interesting example of early 20th-century African furniture, where utility, status, and ethnographic value are integrated into a single piece.
