A highly decorative and antique Japanese porcelain bowl (coupe/tazza), originating from the famous Kutani region and dating from the Meiji period (circa 1870–1900). The porcelain is beautifully hand-painted in the characteristic Kutani palette, dominated by iron-red, terracotta, and refined gold details (Aka-e style). The interior features a richly detailed floral design of peonies and chrysanthemums, surrounded by geometric cartouches with fan and textile motifs. The underside bears the original red Kutani mark (九谷). What is unique about this piece is the European, historizing mount cast in gold-colored bronze/brass. The bowl is set in an openwork gallery rim, flanked by two beautifully fluted handles in Neo-Rococo style. The whole rests on an elegant tripod stand with acanthus leaf motifs. A stunning crossover object that combines the refinement of Japanese Meiji art with the luxury of European 19th‑century taste.
