Tutte le aste / Metalli / Antique inspired Altarpiece - Cast brass - 1920-1930 - Water bucket (Situla)

Gorgeous, very heavily executed brass/bronze holy water bucket (situla / aspersorium) in rich Renaissance style. This impressive religious object is a high-quality, serial cast (likely early 20th century) modeled after the famous and rare historical design by the gieter Joanes Bervolvs dating from 1556. Rich decoration & Details: The exterior is intricately decorated all around with reliefs, including classical portraits in medallions and refined ornaments. The sturdy handles into which the handle rests are beautifully shaped in the form of stylized animal heads. At the top edge there is the characteristic Latin inscription in relief, including the text "PRINCEPS" and "LIBERTATIS". Quality and Condition: What distinguishes this particular specimen is the exceptionally heavy and thick-walled quality. With a height of 20 cm, this bucket weighs no less than 2 kilograms, giving it a very solid and valuable appearance in the hand. The object is in a beautiful, authentic condition. On the inside there is a lovely natural green copper patina (oxidation), which testifies to its historical use with water and is highly valued by collectors. The handle is completely intact and functional. Specifications: • Material: Solid cast brass / bronze • Height: 20 cm (measured without handle) • Diameter: 10 cm (top edge) • Weight: 2.0 kg (2000 grams) • Style: Renaissance / Religiosa A beautiful and decorative object for lovers of religious art, curios and antique metals.
