This brooch was created around 1880 and is an example of the high-quality German goldsmith's work of the late 19th century. It was made from polished red gold - a material that was particularly popular in the 1880s before matt yellow gold became popular towards the end of the century. The smooth surface reflects the light in an impressive way and gives the piece of jewelry additional shine. The brooch has a multi-faceted shape reminiscent of a stylized flower. In the center is an old-cut diamond set in a flower-shaped prong setting. Several concentric gold circles of different widths run around this center stone, absorbing the light and reflecting it back in soft reflections. Eight further old-cut diamonds of the same size are arranged evenly around the center and underline the symmetrical design. A total of 2.18 ct of diamonds are set in open settings. This technique allows maximum light to enter and emphasizes the fire and vibrancy of the stones. The precise execution of the cuts and the balanced composition of form and material make the brooch an impressive piece of jewelry from this era. This fine piece of jewelry came to us from Berlin-Charlottenburg.
