Anna Bila, 2026 110 × 130 cm Ink and pigments on lightly primed cotton canvas From the Living Stones series Touchpoints belongs to Anna Bila’s ongoing Living Stones series. The continuous process of becoming lies at the core of the artist’s practice. She is interested in transitional states — moments when a person, an image, or a form exists between two conditions: no longer what it once was, but not yet something new. The canvas is lightly prepared with diluted primer, allowing the surface to remain absorbent. Diluted inks and pigments interact with water, gravity and the movement of the canvas. The image develops through a balance between intention and controlled accident: forms are allowed to emerge, dissolve, overlap and transform during the painting process. In the Living Stones series, organic forms exist somewhere between the recognizable and the undefined. They may evoke stones, bodies, cells, landscapes or fragments of memory without fully becoming any of them. In Touchpoints, translucent forms approach, overlap and touch one another. Their boundaries remain unstable, creating a quiet tension between separation and connection. About the artist Anna Bila is a Ukrainian visual artist currently living and working in Turin, Italy. Her practice revolves around transformation, memory and the instability of form. Earlier works were centered on the human figure and portraiture, while in recent years the figure has gradually ceased to be necessary. Through fluid materials, images resembling organic structures, flowers, stones and landscapes began to emerge, allowing the same questions about memory, change and becoming to continue through increasingly abstract forms.
