“Golden Light” stands in the tradition of European landscape painting, but reinterprets the natural motif in the spirit of modernity. It combines realism and abstraction, matter and light, as well as classical symbolism and contemporary forms of expression. The work can be stylistically located between symbolic expressionism and modern nature abstraction. The style of the painting shows a mixture of impasto application and metallic surface effect. This combination recalls the tradition of using gold in art, as it played a central role already in Byzantine icon painting and later with Gustav Klimt.
