An ancient Roman silver crossbow fibula with a pronounced arched bow and a transverse head bar terminating in three rounded, onion-shaped knob terminals. The bow and foot are decorated with ring-and-dot decorations arranged between incised linear divisions. -> Crossbow fibulae developed during the third century and became particularly prominent during the Late Roman period. They were worn by members of the military and civil administration, gradually becoming visible indicators of office, rank and social status.
