A prominent rounded boss occupies the centre, surrounded by concentric moulded borders. They combined the practical function of fastening clothing with colourful geometric decoration. Size: ± 28.2 x 20.6 mm Condition Good condition. Green-brown patina with earthen deposits. Most of the original blue and white enamel remains, with age-related cracks and losses. The original pin is missing. Minor surface irregularities and signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher. -> Roman craftsmen commonly used the champlevé technique for brooches of this type.
