Druids, the spiritual leaders of the Celts, revered birds for their ability to soar high above the earth and communicate with the divine. They believed that their songs and flight patterns held hidden meanings. A Roman augur observed the behaviour of birds to receive omens. Depending on the birds, the auspices from the gods could be favourable or unfavourable.
