Hellenistic Greek Unguentarium – 3rd to 1st Century BC A Hellenistic Greek unguentarium with a rounded globular body, tall cylindrical neck and flared rim, a form used for storing perfumes, scented oils, cosmetics and other precious liquids. The vessel preserves extensive mineral encrustations and burial deposits across the surface, particularly around the body and lower neck, giving it a characteristic archaeological appearance. Its elongated proportions and restrained profile are consistent with Hellenistic-period unguentaria produced throughout the eastern Mediterranean between the 3rd and 1st Century BC.
