Ancient Egypt

Egyptian wooden figurine of a solar boat rower with Spanish Import License. Middle Kingdom (2035–1689 B.C.). 9 cm high without base. The navigator of the River of the Afterlife is depicted seated, wearing a ball-shaped wig. The arms, now missing, were originally attached to the figure. The Middle Kingdom (ca. 2035–1689 BCE) was a golden age in Ancient Egypt that began with the reunification of the country by Pharaoh Mentuhotep II in the mid-11th Dynasty. It marked the definitive flourishing of Egyptian literature and classical art, and was also notable for significant territorial expansion and ambitious infrastructure projects. PROVENANCE: Public sale, former French collection assembled between the 1930s and 1960s, acquired at French Auction House 2026. Shipping rates include insurance for the full value of the item. For buyers outside the European Union (EU) a Spanish export license is required. This will take several weeks to arrange.
