AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF COURTLY LADIES RECEIVING A MALE COURTIER

The scene unfolds on a palace terrace, framed by cusped arches, decorative columns and a richly patterned canopy, with flowering trees and architectural structures in the background. The lower register depicts attendants carrying vessels and provisions. Executed in opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, in a delicate palette of red, yellow, green and blue, and presented in a later mount and frame. 48 by 37 cm. 24 by 18 cm.
