An impressive Chinese enamelled porcelain 'immortals' vase, tianqiuping, 19th century, finely painted to the globular body with the eight immortals crossing the sea; Li Tieguai with his iron crutch and magical gourd standing on a turtle, Zhongli Quan holding his feather fan, standing on a crab, Lü Dongbin with his magical sword and fly-whisk, standing on an ornamental fish, a female immortal holding a staff beside a basket weave jar, and the seated figure of man possibly Li Bai, both riding on a pine raft, Han Xiangzi playing a flute, standing on a mollusc, Cao Guojiu wearing court robes and holding jade castanets, standing on a young dragon (chilong), He Xiangu holding a peach sprig standing on a lotus leaf, Zhang Guolao riding a mule holding bamboo fish-drum castanets, and Lan Caihe, patron of florists, carrying a basket of flowers standing on a shrimp, the neck depicting the Sanxing (three star gods) Fu, Lu and Shou, the HeHe Erxian (gods of harmony and union), and Kui Xing (god of examinations) floating amid clouds, base unmarked, height 54cm, small glaze chips to the rim, 20th century hongmu stand. Provenance - the stand later inscribed to the edge 'To: The Ever Ready Company (Great Britain) Limited From: Nam Jam Factory, Limited, Hong Kong = January, 1966 ='. The Nam Jam Factory in Hong Kong (closed in 1978) produced metalware and flashlights as an OEM partner for brands such as Ever Ready batteries. The vase was presented as a gift to the Directors of Ever Ready Company, Great Britain in 1966. The vase was subsequently acquired when the Ever Ready factories were decommissioned and cleared in the 1990s.
